It is with great pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Civil Engineering. Our department has a rich history, established in 1993 as part of the Department of Building and Civil Engineering, and decoupled to become the Department of Civil Engineering in 2006. We have since grown to offer Diploma, Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor of Technology (BTech) as well as a Master of Technology (MTech) programme in Civil Engineering.

As a department, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to helping you achieve your academic and professional goals. Our distinguished faculty brings together academic excellence and industry experience in roads and transportation engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, sanitation and waste engineering, water resources, and sustainable construction practices.

Department Of Civil Engineering

Introduction

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 1993 as part of the Department of Building and Civil Engineering to run Non-Tertiary programmes such as General Course in Construction  (GCC) and Construction Technician Certificate (CTC). In 1998, the Department started the Higher National Diploma (HND) Civil Engineering programme. The Department of Civil Engineering was decoupled from the Department of Building Technology in 2006.                                                                                           

Vision of the Department

The vision of the Department is to become a centre of excellence that provides practical training to students to meet the increasing demand for Civil Engineering professionals to promote the technological advancement of the country.
